Sunday 1 November 0745-1500 - Open Water SCUBA checkout dives on a charter boat with Panama City Dive Center, 4823 Thomas Dr., Panama City, FL Leadership Team: Gabrielle, Ronny, Scott, Richard Students: Eddie, Katie, Laura, Shane, Tom, Michelle Already Certified Divers: Lauren, Chelsea, Savannah Don’t forget to bring your dive logs and dive tables. We will meet at the FSU football stadium at 7:45am …park just outside the visitor lot to carpool. This will get us to Panama City Dive Center by 9am central time. At the dive shop, we will sign the manifest and everyone will need to carry their cylinders in their vehicles to the boat. Nitrox divers will analyze their cylinders at the shop. We will explore some beautiful shipwrecks and artificial reefs where we will see lots of amazing sea life! I rent the entire charter boat and the cost is $140 per diver including cylinders for students (I pay for cylinders for students), and $12 per cylinder for Nitrox ($24 total) or $10 per cylinder for air ($20 total). You will pay Gabrielle directly. If you have non-diving friends or family who would like to join, bubble watchers are $70. Don't forget to bring your dive logs, dive tables, skin diving gear, wetsuits, etc. (water temp is currently 78 degrees, so most people will need a light wetsuit. If you are meeting us there, arrive by 9am central time to Panama City Dive Center, 4823 Thomas Dr, Panama City, FL 32408. I always recommend packing 120mg Sudafed or generic equivalent, Docs ProPlugs, and nondrowsy Dramamine or generic equivalent in case anyone has the propensity to get seasick. Recently we had a beautiful pod of dolphins entertaining us, and there have been whale shark and manta ray sightings in the area! Also bring tip money for the boat crew that you will give directly to them. Recommended tipping for a 2-cylinder dive is 20%. I usually tip $40, but it’s up to you…the crew is excellent, and it is family owned. Pack your own water in a reusable container as well as a lunch. They always have fruit on board, too.
