- ➤ A Panama City street was renamed in honor of Mae Bell Whitfield on what would have been her 106th birthday; Flower Avenue from 14th to near 19th Street is now Mae Bell Whitfield Way, marking her over 102 years of local impact. WJHG
- ➤ Bay County Parks and Recreation officials are renovating Rick Seltzer Park by demolishing 60 feet of the old boardwalk to build a new 176-foot ADA-accessible structure — the project will be finished before the spring tourist season to improve access for residents and visitors. WJHG

- ➤ The Historical Society of Bay County announced the Smithsonian Food Exhibit (Bayside Bounty) celebrating the county’s culinary heritage, scheduled to open Saturday, Feb. 21 in Panama City. WJHG

- ➤ Local officials announced the Rick Seltzer Boardwalk replacement project began Jan.2 + work continues to update the aging boardwalk along the waterfront. WJHG

- ➤ Experts at the Cardiovascular Institute in Panama City explained that leg pain may signal a heart issue, especially in older adults (with risk factors like high blood pressure and diabetes). Dr. Ajay Mahtre recommended a walking program and medication to improve circulation if the pain persists. WJHG
- ➤ Local gyms see a surge in members renewing and starting New Year’s resolutions as fitness centers fill up in January. Wellness and Fitness manager Patrick Lambert said treadmills are busy and trainers expect many resolutions to drop by March — a common trend for early January. WJHG
