  • Forest Park Methodist Church held a drive-thru ashes service on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 18) that gave parishioners a safe and convenient option to observe the tradition.  WJHG
  • Warrior Beach Retreat will host a parade + ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 26 at the boardwalk beach convention center to support local military; the parade begins at 4:00 p.m. and guest speaker John Wayn Walding will speak at 7:00 p.m.  WJHG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tripadvisor released its 2026 Travelers' Choice Awards for best beaches using reviews from last year. Seven Florida beaches, including Panama City Beach, Clearwater, and Siesta, ranked among the top 15, highlighting family outings + spring break travel.  Panama City News Herald

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Seven new development projects will bring nearly 2,000 jobs to Bay County — a boost to the local economy as officials plan future growth. The efforts aim to attract more businesses and opportunities in the coming months.  WJHG

  • FWC is seeking public input on new recreational fish management guidelines for Gulf gag grouper to balance conservation + fishing opportunities. Interested locals can review proposals and submit feedback as the agency refines its approach in the coming weeks.  WJHG

  • Residents along Whitfield Road discovered trees cleared and a utility substation under construction a few days ago; the Bay County Commission reached out to state officials today (since state law permits such projects on residential properties without board review) to seek clarity.  WJHG
  • Bay County attorney received a pro bono award for his dedicated service to the community. He was recognized on Feb. 18 in Bay County.  WJHG

  • A second raccoon has tested positive for rabies near Lynn Haven Elementary School, and city officials advise residents to avoid animals that act oddly.  WJHG
