COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The property owner confirmed that Tan Fannies II will not open on Front Beach Road after a prank misled the public today. The sign was removed from the property between Domino's & a hardware store, as the zoning only permits non-commercial use in the tourist corridor.  WJHG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Community members celebrate Black History Month today with an event hosted by BLAM (Black, Love, Art, and Music) featuring live music and storytelling in local venues.  WJHG
  • A total lunar eclipse will occur Tuesday, March 3 when the Moon turns red as it passes through Earth's shadow, lasting about six hours with over an hour of totality. Residents in Panama City can watch the blood moon in the early morning without needing special glasses.  Panama City News Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • A cold front is predicted to bring temperatures in the Panhandle down to the 30s and 40s (conditions that can leave iguanas cold-stunned or dead), and decaying reptiles could pose a botulism risk to dogs; a Loxahatchee family reported one dog died and another was paralyzed after eating a dead iguana.  Panama City News Herald
  • Nine Bay restaurants received high-priority violations during Feb. 9–15 inspections by the Florida DBPR — several local eateries in Panama City and Panama City Beach will face follow-up reviews for unsafe food temperatures and storage.  Panama City News Herald
