- ➤ Girls Inc. of Bay County today named Yvonne (Von) Watt as its new executive director. She brings over a decade in nonprofit leadership and 15 years in international youth development and will work to strengthen programs and community partnerships for local girls. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ Four Gulf Coast State College (GCSC) Academic Honors Program students presented research at the American Journalism Historians Association Southeast Symposium in Panama City Beach on Feb. 7. Their work covered topics including the evolution of running shoes and the history of a local WWII Coastal Patrol base. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ A total lunar eclipse will show a blood moon over Panama City on Tuesday, March 3, with viewing times from 2:44 a.m.-6:08 a.m. CT and peak at 5:33 a.m. CT. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ Bay County officials have issued a boil water notice for west end residents of Panama City Beach due to water quality concerns. Residents should boil water until state officials confirm the supply is safe. WJHG
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Doctors in Panama City participated in the national CREST-2 trial that found carotid stenting lowers stroke risk among patients with 50% or greater blockage, even if they have not had a stroke. The Cardiovascular Institute of Northwest Florida in Bay County helped conduct the study. WJHG
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The News-Herald has launched the FPL Athlete of the Week poll inviting local readers to vote for featured athletes chosen from coaches’ nominations and game performances — voting remains open until noon Friday, Feb. 27. Last week, Bay High girls weightlifting star Alannah Rhodes won the poll with 20,425 votes. Panama City News Herald
