- ➤ Florida gas prices are set to rise in the coming days as refineries switch to summer-blend fuels and global oil costs push rates higher—Panama City stations reported gas at about $3.474 per gallon yesterday. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ Teachers at Bay District Schools are planning spring break (Mar. 16-21) with some traveling to Texas and Central Florida for family visits, cruises, or professional development while others will stay local to work on gardening, art projects and school events. Panama City News Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Cape San Blas man discovered a 7ft dolphin floating in his backyard early Sunday as officials and volunteers collected the animal for testing amid a surge with 21 strandings reported in March. WJHG
- ➤ Bay County officials say the Steelfield Road Landfill takes in over one million pounds of waste a day and processed 580 million pounds in fiscal 2025. They urge residents to avoid disposing hazardous items (such as car batteries and pool chemicals) in residential garbage by using proper drop-off facilities. WJHG
- ➤ Severe storms swept the Panhandle on Monday and brought potentially damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes to Panama City—up to 3 inches of rain fell while inland areas faced a freeze warning and temperatures dropped sharply after sunset. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ The experimental hurricane tracking cone, which adds inland warnings using color-coded maps, will become fully operational around May 15. Tested during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, it aims to improve storm impact communication (helping people better prepare) during hurricane season. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ The News-Herald has launched this week’s Florida Power & Light Athlete of the Week poll using coach nominations and game performance to select top athletes.
