- ➤ Panama City Beach Police Chief J.R. Talamantez confirmed that two people died in a shooting at the Sunnyside Apartments on the west end—police have not made any arrests and are investigating the case as a homicide while assuring there is no ongoing threat. WJHG
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Port Panama City officials worry that a fee proposed in late February by the United States Trade Representative to charge up to $1.5 million on Chinese-built ships could force cargo to divert to Canadian and Mexican ports and raise prices for consumers. Executive Director Alex King — who leads Port Panama City — said the fee is aimed at boosting U.S. shipbuilding but may harm local shipping, and the USTR will hold a public hearing in D.C. tomorrow to gather comments. - ➤ Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier directed his office to investigate Gulf World Marine Park after a post about Rep. Griff Griffitts’ statement raised concerns over animal cruelty. He said his office will work with law enforcement and will not tolerate any animal cruelty. WJHG
