COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ ECP thanked local residents for helping TSA workers during a shutdown on Mar. 30 — the organization expressed its gratitude for the support during the temporary service disruption. WJHG
- ➤ A 15-year-old shark attack survivor who lost her hand and leg on a Florida Gulf Coast beach in 2024 is urging for a shark alert system for local coastal counties through Lulu's Law. Alabama signed the bill in May 2025 & officials are considering similar measures to warn beachgoers. WJHG
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tyndall Academy’s rebuild moves forward after a 352-page environmental assessment approved on Sunday cleared three sites for the new campus. The Cleveland Gate site is preferred (despite noise concerns that could raise costs) while officials work to boost community transparency. WJHG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ New recreational regulations for Gulf lane snapper will take effect April 1. FWC increased the minimum size (from 8 to 10 inches) and set a bag limit of 20 fish to reduce overfishing and comply with federal rules. WJHG
- ➤ Starting April 20, Florida’s SNAP will not cover soda, energy drinks, candy, or prepared desserts as part of new USDA-approved rules to encourage healthier choices. The two-year waiver may be extended and will require tracking of spending in the state. Panama City News Herald
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the City of Panama City issued a precautionary boil water notice for residents in areas including W 28th Pl. from Jamedon Dr. to Stanford Rd. (covering Lanny Ln. from W 28th Pl. to Hwy 390 and Lawton Ct.), urging them to boil water until further notice. WJHG
