- ➤ Two suspects in a double murder in Panama City Beach were taken from Montgomery to the Bay County Jail—26-year-old Milan McKelvey, who shot two step-sisters at Sunnyside apartments on March 25 and is held without bond on first degree murder charges, and his mother Tangela McKelvey, who faces a $350,000 accessory charge bond, while Milan’s stepfather Marwan Gordan remains in Walton County jail. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bay County will deploy the retired tugboat Captain Hornblower as an artificial reef next week to benefit local scuba divers and fishermen + the vessel will be sunk near Panama City as part of the county’s reef program funded by Bay County and the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida. WJHG
- ➤ City officials reported that the long-awaited restoration project in Mexico Beach added 1 million cubic yards of sand and extended the shoreline by 150 feet—steps that will protect homes and roads from future storms and support sea turtle nesting. The project will be completed in two weeks. WJHG

- ➤ Panama City Beach will enforce extra spring break special event zones from today at noon until Monday at 5 a.m. and temporarily close three public parking lots from today at noon until Sunday at 5 p.m. The measures — designed to reduce crowd problems — come as the city expects a large surge of visitors, and — additional closures are scheduled from April 10 until April 13 —. - ➤ Today, Mayor Tettermer announced new spring break safety measures for Panama City Beach after a shooting at Pier Park—these measures include law enforcement checkpoints to screen for drugs, illegal weapons, and alcohol, a ban on large bags that allows only small purses measuring 6 in. by 8 in., an 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. curfew for those under 18, and a ban on face coverings except for health reasons.
