- ➤ Florida State University of Panama City's Early Childhood Autism Program is hosting its Annual Auction for Autism Awareness to raise funds for families in need— the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 11 at 4750 Collegiate Dr. WJHG
- ➤ The Panama City Lions Club is preparing its 61st Annual Gopher Turtle Race to raise funds for its charitable work. The event will offer local residents a fun way to support community programs—more details will be provided soon. WJHG

- ➤ Forecasters predict that Florida will have the nation’s highest chance of facing a named tropical storm at 92%, a hurricane at 65% and a major hurricane at 35% this season. The forecast calls for 17 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes — urging residents to prepare. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ Veteran skimboarder Justin Buxton, who first competed 20 years ago, returned to the PCB Spring Skim Jam with his son Finn and friend Isaiah to keep his lifelong passion alive. Isaiah broke his back last summer and now works at Justin’s restaurant while he recovers—he plans to rejoin the contest as soon as he is able. WJHG
- ➤ Baker and Suwannee high schools (hosts) held regional boys weightlifting meets this past weekend, and North Bay Haven (Panama City) won the Class 1A Region 1 Olympic title while finishing third in the traditional team event. - ➤ The News Herald relaunched the Florida Power & Light Athlete of the Week poll to honor top athletes from March 31–April 5 in track, weightlifting and baseball while congratulating last week's winner, Will Neeley from Arnold.
