- ➤ The Bay County Easter Egg Hunt will be held tomorrow—April 12th from 1 to 3 p.m. at H.G. Harder’s Park, giving families a fun way to celebrate the holiday. WJHG
- ➤ Bark in the Park returns to Panama City on Saturday, April 12th (tomorrow) at Academy Park in SweetBay, where dog owners can enjoy live music, a pop-up market, and photo sessions. - ➤ On Wednesday morning, a pickup truck turning eastbound on Highway 98 from Michigan Avenue struck 60-year-old Eric James Rodgers in Panama City Beach, and he later died at Bay Medical Center; police are investigating the fatal collision. WJHG
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that happened Wednesday in Bay County—officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 79 and tracked it to the Vinson Road area with support from multiple law enforcement units and a helicopter. WJHG
- ➤ Donna Santiago—struck while walking on Lisenby Avenue near the PPG Paint Store on April 3—was fatally hit by a driver who has not been charged; her sons hold a vigil and call for stronger pedestrian safety as community members show support. Panama City News Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Florida's bat maternity season will begin April 16 and run until August 14 so residents must obtain a permit to remove bats from their home or shed to protect young bats. The new law will help keep baby bats safe & support their role in controlling insects and pollinating plants. Panama City News Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts that Florida will have a hotter than normal summer except in southern areas which are expected to see higher rainfall and an active hurricane season from mid-July to late August. Gov. DeSantis signed a law last year that stops local governments from requiring extra heat protections for outdoor workers—raising concerns about worker safety amid rising temperatures.
