GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Bay County may vote early for the 2025 municipal elections at the Lynn Haven Senior Center & Panama City City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday. Election day is April 22nd when voters will cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at designated polling locations. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ The Internal Revenue Service announced that all Florida residents and businesses now have until May 1 to file taxes instead of the usual April 15 deadline—this extension comes after initial help for those impacted by Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton, and Congressman Jimmy Patronis warned residents to avoid tax scams. - ➤ North Bay Haven senior wrestler Preston Neufeld reached the state final and earned a silver medal after winning county, district, and regional titles. Coaches and media members named him Bay County boys' Wrestler of the Year after he improved from a fifth-place finish last season. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ On April 11, North Bay Haven beat Arnold (7-5) to win the Bay County softball championship (the game was marked by strong plays and rallying cries). Panama City News Herald
- ➤ Bay High senior point guard Oliver Pratt was named Bay County Boys Player of the Year and earned 1st Team All County honors as he averaged 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals. Coach Michael Memmen led the Tornadoes to a 16-12 record and a share of the county title after they beat Fort Walton Beach 55-54 while Pratt prepares to continue his career at Baptist University of Florida.
