- ➤ The Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle Spring Consignment Sale opens today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and continues Friday with the same hours and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon (registration is not required), giving locals a chance to find quality items. WJHG
- ➤ Central Purr is a new cat cafe in Panama City Beach that helps stray cats find homes by offering a home-like setting for adoptions (open Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a grand opening on May 9). WJHG

- ➤ Aldi is opening its new store in Panama City today at 2533 Thomas Drive and early shoppers can get gift bags and gift cards up to $100 as part of the chain’s six new Florida openings this April. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ A study by Florida’s Great Northwest found over 5,000 service members separate from local bases each year and nearly half plan to work in the area. Leaders believe the veteran talent pipeline will boost job opportunities as manufacturing and defense companies expand regionally. WJHG

- ➤ Bay District Schools approved Cornerstone Preparatory Academy, a tuition-free charter that offers a classical education built on grammar + logic, to increase school choices. It will open in the Callaway area by August. WJHG
- ➤ North Bay Haven high school junior Caleb Fanning attended the four-day Disney Dreamers Academy last month, meeting mentors, celebrities, and business leaders as he prepared to blend his love for piano and STEM in a future neuroscience career. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ Gulf County+Eastern Shipbuilding Group Maritime Academy reports success in its workforce project that trains the next generation of maritime professionals; the program builds local talent for future maritime careers. WJHG
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Panhandle farmers are facing a severe drought that has dried local ponds and limited irrigation water. They have received less than two inches of rain since March 1, making it difficult to plant cotton, corn and peanuts. WJHG

- ➤ NWFL Health Network hosted its 5th annual Gentracon conference at FSU Panama City, where four speakers explained how to break the cycle of generational trauma for over 350 attendees (in person and online) while nearly 40 local organizations provided extra support. WJHG

- ➤ Bay County has put St. Andrew’s School up for bid with minimum offers of $1.8 million after the board approved deed changes barring its use as a school, and sealed bids are due by 4 p.m. on April 22 at the County Attorney’s office with the sale closing within 30 days. WJHG
