  • Healthy Start hosted the World's Greatest Baby Shower as a resource fair on Friday, April 17th, 2026, where 40 vendors provided advice on safe sleep, car seat installation, and breastfeeding support (and introduced the new Team Dad program for fathers).  WJHG
  • Local organizers announced a new event at Roberts Hall and plan to reveal the schedule and attractions soon — residents are encouraged to watch for further updates.  WJHG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Bay County has announced a free Concerts in the Park series that starts tomorrow, April 18, with Dionzia Santiago at Under the Oaks Park in Parker and will include five more monthly concerts in county parks through September, offering local music + food trucks.  Panama City News Herald

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Oil futures dropped to the mid-$90 range, but companies still pay over $133 per barrel for immediate delivery, keeping Florida gas prices high. Experts warn that with the ongoing blockade and supply gaps, pump prices are unlikely to fall below $3 a gallon soon.  Panama City News Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Breakfast Point Academy teacher Grace Owens organized a Neurodivergent Walk for Autism Awareness Month today, where fourth and fifth graders read poems and sang songs about autism for younger students (emphasizing acceptance). Owens hopes to hold the event again next year.  WJHG

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Florida residents are reminded to review local ordinances before attempting to shoot a snake, as many areas ban discharging firearms in residential zones. The FWC advises trapping and releasing or humanely euthanizing nuisance snakes (within 24 hours) and warns that some species are protected.  Panama City News Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Bay baseball team clinched its district title with a win over Rutherford on Thursday, marking a key season milestone. Local fans celebrated the achievement and look forward to upcoming games.  WJHG
