  • Today, families in Bay County can enjoy a range of Easter events as Schooners hosts its annual beach egg hunt for kids from a few months to 9 years beginning at 9 a.m.—the city of Panama City Beach holds its public hunt from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the Center for the Arts offers an Easter-themed scavenger hunt from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  WJHG
  • Surfside Middle School SGA students hosted an Easter egg hunt where the Easter Bunny made a visit—bringing a festive spring event to the school.  WJHG

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 12:16 p.m. today, officials said the Clayton Road brush fire burned 150 acres and is 90% contained after a 9:15 a.m. report showed just 50% containment and evacuees returned by 7:00 p.m. last night, with 10 personnel and one drone providing support.  WJHG
  • Springfield Police said Alvin Parrish from Panama City Beach died on Thursday night when his motorcycle collided with a left-turning Nissan van at East 11th Street and Transmitter Road — the van driver was cited for failing to yield — as officers attempted life-saving measures.  WJHG

  • Local churches held solemn services on Good Friday, April 18—reflecting on Jesus’ sacrifice. Families will gather for Easter Sunday on April 20—with festive events and worship planned.  Bay County Coastal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire called the Clayton Road Fire burned 150 acres near Econfina and reached 50% containment by April 18 — ground crews and aerial support battled dry conditions and debris while officials closed County Road 2301. Evacuated residents returned home around 7 p.m. April 17 — extra teams remain on scene until the fire is fully contained.  Panama City News Herald

  • Bay County residents will vote in 2025 municipal elections on April 22—polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voters in Panama City, Lynn Haven, Parker and Mexico Beach as election officials urge higher turnout.  Panama City News Herald
