  • Panama City Police are seeking help to locate runaway teen Isaiah Lenain, 15, who was last seen on North James Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on April 23 wearing a black t-shirt with yellow writing and black pants—tips should be reported to the department at 850-872-3100.  WJHG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Florida State University is adding extra police and support staff to its graduation ceremonies after a campus shooting killed two people - former Leon High assistant coach Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba - so each event, including Panama City's, will begin with a moment of silence to honor the victims.  WJHG

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center is hosting an Earth Day Expo where the first 400 visitors receive a free swag bag—offering eco-friendly exhibits and hands-on activities to celebrate our environment.  WJHG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bay County leaders say House Bill 7033 and House Bill 1221 could end local tourism marketing by shifting Tourism Development Tax funds to general purposes—threatening local jobs, events, and beach renourishment projects. Representative Griffitts and Chamber of Commerce President Patrick Chapin stressed that local control over tourism funds is vital—raising debate as the bill heads to the House floor.  WJHG
  • Starting May 7, 2025, Florida residents over 18 must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID to board flights or enter federal facilities, and those without proper documents will need to provide alternate federal identification. Residents should verify their current documents and prepare to visit a FLHSMV office with original proofs of identity, Social Security, and Florida residency if needed.  Panama City News Herald
