  • On Saturday, Panama City hosted the 'walk in my shoes' event that began in the Florida Keys and traveled across the state—bringing local residents a unique chance to experience community stories firsthand.  WJHG
  • Lauren’s Kids Foundation held a walk in Panama City to raise awareness of child abuse and sexual assault. Participants at the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center picked up event shirts and friendship bracelets and walked a two mile loop with an optional five mile route—Uber codes were provided to help participants return to their vehicles.  My Panhandle

  • The Panama City Police Department is investigating an accident at the intersection of 23rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd — they ask drivers to avoid the area until they learn more.  WJHG

  • The ASCENT program held its third annual Technology Expo at FSU Panama City on Saturday — kids launched bottle rockets, played Minecraft, visited a mobile planetarium and operated sphere bots — to spark interest in STEM careers. The $23 million program, partly funded by Triumph Gulf Coast and FSU Panama City, aims to build the IT and cybersecurity workforce — it developed a K–12 initiative for students in eight coastal counties impacted by the BP oil spill — and prepares youth for a future with artificial intelligence.  My Panhandle
  • Hutchison Elementary School in Panama City Beach earned Legacy status in the Leader in Me program—an honor given to only 21 schools worldwide that shows a strong commitment to student leadership and academic excellence.   • On Saturday, twenty middle school girls with Girls Inc. learned basic camera skills at the Redfish Film Festival — they worked with a women-led production team at NASA and gained hands-on experience with professional equipment. HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alzheimer’s Association Brain Bus will visit Panama City on April 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CT) at FSU Panama City Campus to offer free support for families facing Alzheimer’s. It will then travel to Blountstown on April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon (CT) where trained staff will help families learn about diagnosis and caregiving steps.  Bay County Coastal
