- ➤ A Walton County man was found guilty of DUI Manslaughter on Friday after he drove the wrong way on Hwy 79 — causing a head-on crash near County Road 388 that killed a passenger and injured others; sentencing is set for June 12 at 9 a.m. WJHG
- ➤ Luke Kirkland, 45, was arrested and charged with first-degree homicide after allegedly shooting 48-year-old Alyson Jones during an argument at his Panama City residence on April 30 at about 9:30 p.m., with the firearm later recovered from a relative's home. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ On May 2, deputies responded to reports of domestic battery at Aqua View Motel and arrested a Georgia man, Robert Funderburk, who allegedly hit his fiancé—leaving her with visible injuries and prompting officers to recover a bloody wrench they believe was used in the assault. WJHG

- ➤ Experts from Colorado State University predict that the hurricane season starting June 1 will be above average with 17 named storms—9 expected to be hurricanes with 4 as major storms.
