  • A local Girl Scout completed her Gold Award service project by installing four new benches at Conservation Park on May 3 to offer extra seating for park visitors.  WJHG

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hurricane Preparedness Week runs from May 3 to May 9 and offers tips for residents to learn if they live in a flood or evacuation zone. Residents can check their home's storm safety + plan for the upcoming Atlantic hurricane season.  Panama City News Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A U.S. Congressman said he is reviewing the impact of Spirit Airlines' shutdown on travel options for our community and will meet with officials to address concerns. He expects to discuss plans that may help restore service soon.  WJHG

SPORTS NEWS

  • Panama City Beach will host the 44th IRONMAN 70.3 Gulf Coast on May 9 with about 1,800 athletes competing in a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. Race officials said key roads, including Front Beach Road (6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), will see traffic changes as contingency plans are in place for bad weather.  Panama City News Herald
