  • On Jan. 4, The Ark PCB—a faith-based program for the homeless and needy families in Panama City Beach—hosted a tour with the News Herald that showcased its dormitories, chapel and coffee shop. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday night, the Bay County Sheriff's Office responded to a motorcycle collision on Boat Race Road in Callaway when 31-year-old Markus Ray Powell, riding his 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, collided with a 2022 Ford F150 truck and died from his injuries as the investigation continued.  My Panhandle

  • Panama City police charged two men with attempted murder after an argument outside Bambi’s Dollhouse led to a shooting near 2915 East Bus. Hwy 98 on May 10; no one was hurt and detectives are still searching for a blue Ford F-150 (Florida tag HWU7X).  WJHG
  • A man from Fountain, Elvis Mark Hartrick, was sentenced to 40 years—after being found guilty on April 16 for trafficking 750 grams of methamphetamine, fleeing law enforcement, and possessing controlled substances—by a Bay County judge.  Bay County Coastal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Deane Bozeman School officially broke ground on a $14.5 million expansion—funded by a FEMA mitigation grant—to build a new 23-classroom facility for its growing student body that now exceeds 1,700. The project follows delays from Hurricane Michael and will help the school meet rising enrollment needs.  WKGC Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Some Panama City residents must boil water after a water main break near Beck Ave and 23rd St caused a loss in water pressure and may see discolored water for up to 24 hours after restoration—residents are advised to boil water until the order is lifted.  WJHG

SPORTS NEWS

  • FSU Panama City will launch a collegiate bass fishing team for experienced anglers—along with a fishing club open to all students—later this fall. The school is partnering with Mosely High School’s coach Travis Page to set up the teams as bass fishing gains local popularity.  Panama City News Herald
