- ➤ On Friday morning around 8:00 a.m., a man riding a motorized bicycle hit a car near Front Beach Road and Cauley Road — he was taken in an ambulance and received a citation for riding on the pedestrian sidewalk. WJHG
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A multi-agency operation named Operation Staycation has arrested 21 illegal immigrants in Panama City with 18 taken in Bay County—four for entering without inspection and one facing felony reentry charges, officials said. WJHG
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The National Hurricane Center issued its second tropical outlook on May 16 and said no tropical cyclone is expected in the Atlantic over the next seven days — a welcome update for residents still recovering from last year's hurricanes. The outlook noted that if a system begins to strengthen, the first named storm, Andrea, will be used and daily advisories will continue until hurricane season ends on Nov. 30. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ State and federal agencies are investigating Gulf World Marine Park but it remains open as local animal advocate Katie Bashore reported the park showed dirty conditions and algae in the water during her visit on May 15th. She is leading a peaceful protest today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the Empty the Tanks group to demand better care for the animals. WJHG
