- ➤ On Tuesday, Robbie Hughes won the Ward 1 runoff for the Panama City commission—Bay County voters turned out in a key contest at Something’s Cooking downtown. He said his goal is to boost public access to the waterfront—he plans to work with commissioners and will be sworn in next week. WJHG
- ➤ Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Boater Freedom Act at Watson Landing Marina in Panama City on Monday, a law that stops the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission from using safety checks as probable cause to search boats and prevents bans on gas-powered boats. Bay County Commissioner Daniel Raffield said the governor’s visit showed his strong local support—highlighting his commitment to the region’s boating and tourism industries. WJHG
