  • Ace Hardware and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will give away one million free American flags on Saturday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the flags will be available at participating Ace Hardware stores and VFW posts while supplies last.   • Mrs. Florida, Tanya Holloway—Bay High graduate—joined NewsChannel 7 on Tuesday to talk about her pageantry and advocacy work with The Human Kind Project. She will return to compete in the Mrs. United States Pageant later in 2025.  WJHG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A. Crawford Mosley High School graduates celebrated their graduation at Tommy Oliver Stadium on May 19 with student performances and large family attendance. Principal Brian Bullock—who led the ceremony—gave out the diplomas.  Panama City News Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Robbie Hughes won the Ward 1 runoff for the Panama City commission—Bay County voters turned out in a key contest at Something’s Cooking downtown. He said his goal is to boost public access to the waterfront—he plans to work with commissioners and will be sworn in next week.  WJHG
  • Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Boater Freedom Act at Watson Landing Marina in Panama City on Monday, a law that stops the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission from using safety checks as probable cause to search boats and prevents bans on gas-powered boats. Bay County Commissioner Daniel Raffield said the governor’s visit showed his strong local support—highlighting his commitment to the region’s boating and tourism industries.  WJHG
