  • Bay County held its Memorial Day ceremony on Monday to honor more than 600,000 U.S. soldiers lost in combat since World War I. The event at Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetery featured Taps, bagpipes, a flyover from Tyndall Air Force Base, and family members paying their respects.  WJHG

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Early Sunday morning on Thomas Drive, a golf cart and an SUV collided, and the Florida Highway Patrol urged drivers to stay alert, put away distractions, and follow rules for low speed vehicles—only allowed on roads with a 30 mph limit.  WJHG

CRIME NEWS

  • The Bay County Sheriff's Office said they responded last weekend at 2:24 a.m. to a shooting at Wildwood Road and Emerald Cove Street in Panama City Beach that left Lyft driver William Robert McArthur fatally wounded—17-year-old Brayden Raul Gomez was arrested after blood was found on his clothing and the gun was recovered from a trashcan.  WJHG
  • BCSO released more details on the shooting that killed a Lyft driver over the weekend— a 17-year-old was charged with murder in connection with the incident.  WJHG

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Monday morning, the Warrior Memorial Reef Foundation honored Vietnam Veteran Sgt. Tommy Mullis by placing his urn into a reef—his son and active-duty Army divers carried out a solemn underwater ceremony from the Man in the Sea Museum to the Lighthouse Marina.  WJHG
