EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Many Florida counties wrapped up the 2025-2026 school year, with final days on May 21, May 27 (today), or May 28 and 29, while six counties will finish in June. Bay County students will end school tomorrow. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ Bay District Schools is reorganizing amid funding cuts as board members held a workshop on cost-saving measures after COVID relief funding and Hurricane Michael recovery money expired (the district has already reduced over 60 positions and aims to protect student services next school year). - ➤ Panama City commissioners approved a change order for the Martin Theatre project that shifts over $1 million from local funds to FEMA disaster relief funding. The change lets crews add enhancements like improved lighting and an orchestra pit lift as work on HVAC, sprinklers and roofing continues with completion expected in September. WJHG
