- ➤ Panama City's Community Redevelopment Agency began construction on the US 98 Millville Beautification Project — a collaboration with FDOT to plant Florida-friendly vegetation and upgrade the gateway near Whittington Park on May 27th. - ➤ On May 26th, Panama City police responded to a 911 call in the 600 block of East 4th Street when 49-year-old Christopher Dugent retrieved a firearm from his wife’s vehicle and attempted to shoot her—though the gun did not fire—and he surrendered upon officers’ arrival. Bay County Coastal

- ➤ The City of Panama City will host a full-day patriotic celebration on Saturday, June 14 to honor the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army in downtown Panama City—featuring a 5K run, a formal ceremony, a flyover, a military expo with family activities, and road closures along key streets. - ➤ The Florida Department of Transportation will begin a $2.6 million intersection improvement project later this summer at U.S. 231 at Pipeline Road in Bay County. The project includes new mast arm traffic signals, widened lanes for left turns, improved stormwater management, and lane closures scheduled Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.—traffic will not be disrupted during peak times from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with construction set to finish mid-2026. - ➤ A portion of West Beach Drive on the west side of Frankford Avenue in Panama City will close for one year starting the morning of June 11th due to residents’ safety concerns about drivers cutting through local streets—city officials will monitor the traffic flow and require additional approvals for any permanent road changes.
