Panama City's Community Redevelopment Agency began construction on the US 98 Millville Beautification Project — a collaboration with FDOT to plant Florida-friendly vegetation and upgrade the gateway near Whittington Park on May 27th.

The $260,000 project received a $250,000 grant from FDOT and a $10,000 contribution from the Millville District Budget, and it is set to be finished in June.

On May 26th, Panama City police responded to a 911 call in the 600 block of East 4th Street when 49-year-old Christopher Dugent retrieved a firearm from his wife’s vehicle and attempted to shoot her—though the gun did not fire—and he surrendered upon officers’ arrival.

A portion of West Beach Drive on the west side of Frankford Avenue in Panama City will close for one year starting the morning of June 11th due to residents’ safety concerns about drivers cutting through local streets—city officials will monitor the traffic flow and require additional approvals for any permanent road changes.
