Triumph Gulf Coast approved five grant agreements and advanced two projects that will use $70 million to support 1,300 high-wage jobs in Bay, Okaloosa, Walton, Santa Rosa, and Wakulla Counties—projects include an MRO facility at Northwest Florida International Airport and a plan to revamp a former incinerator for manufacturing in Bay County. The board met in Pensacola this week and set the stage for regional growth in the aviation and manufacturing sectors.

Tropical Storm Erick is expected to become a hurricane today in the eastern Pacific and may bring heavy rains, strong winds, and coastal flooding to western Mexico while hurricane watches remain in effect; the National Hurricane Center is also tracking four tropical waves in the Atlantic that are not expected to affect local weather. In Panama City, Florida, fewer showers and storms are forecast with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s (mostly dry conditions for today).

Tyndall Air Force Base announced that a prescribed burn covering 160 acres will occur on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. northwest of Tyndall AFB Housing to reduce wildfire risk and improve wildlife habitat, with AFCEC/Wildland Fire Module managing the event and transport winds expected from the southwest to limit smoke in sensitive areas.
