CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 27-year-old man was critically injured early Tuesday at 2:43 a.m. when he was hit by a fleeing vehicle on Allison Avenue near Island Reserve Condominiums—troopers are investigating and urging anyone with information to come forward while he remains at a local hospital in critical condition. - ➤ Students at Deane Bozeman School won first place at the Florida state FFA convention by debating mandatory testing for avian flu and will travel to nationals in Indianapolis this October — representing Florida’s agricultural spirit. My Panhandle
- ➤ The Gulf Coast State College Foundation received more than $98,000 in donations from HCA Florida Gulf Coast and the Edward F. Hickey Memorial Fund to support nursing students with emergency grants and scholarships in Panama City. The donations include an $8,000 emergency fund that was matched and a permanent endowment that brings the scholarship total to $82,500 to start in Fall. My Panhandle

- ➤ Panama City officials voted to hold monthly Town Halls — a change from the old open public comment format — so residents can ask questions about city issues. The first Town Hall is set for Saturday at 8 a.m., and meeting times will also change with the second commission meeting moving to 5:30 p.m. My Panhandle
- ➤ On Tuesday, Premier Estates residents on Wood Valley Road, Fox Ridge Road, Cottontail Lane, Foxmoor Lane, and Marin Drive were placed under a precautionary boil water notice due to emergency water main work that caused a loss of water pressure. The notice will remain until repairs are complete and a bacteriological survey shows the water is safe — residents may see discolored water for about 24 hours after restoration. My Panhandle
- ➤ Panama City officials announced that Gulf Coast Utility Contractors will temporarily close the road at the Luverne Ave and Beach Dr intersection today through July 11 to complete underground utility work. Traffic will be redirected through a nearby parking lot and flaggers will safely direct vehicles. My Panhandle
