  • Mew Tew's Refuge is raising money to buy much-needed medical equipment for local kittens—a move that will help them receive better care. The fundraising campaign remains active after being reported on July 20.  WJHG

CRIME NEWS

  • The Panama City Police Department is asking the public to help find runaway teen Dallas I. Jacks—last seen Saturday morning near Mulberry Avenue and 11th Street, he is 5’9” and weighs 165 pounds with long brown hair and brown eyes.  WJHG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lynn Haven Mayor and pastor Jesse Nelson held a community meeting Sunday evening to discuss the termination of City Manager Vickie Gainer for alleged bid rigging + some attendees suggested the firing may have been racially motivated. Nelson was the only commission member to vote against her termination.  WJHG

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Florida Health Department confirmed that one person in Bay County died from Vibrio vulnificus—the flesh-eating bacteria—in an outbreak that has also left nearly a dozen others ill, marking the county’s first death in three years. Doctors advise people with underlying conditions to cover open wounds if exposed to seawater.  My Panhandle
