- ➤ Panama City police arrested 17-year-old Mason Peters and 18-year-old Derrick Williams after construction crews found on Thursday that vandals broke into the new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center through an unlocked door and spray-painted three walls—authorities said the suspects admitted the break-in and vandalism with Peters also facing a meth possession charge. - ➤ Attorneys for Kayle Bates appealed on Thursday to the U.S. Supreme Court to stop his execution scheduled for next Tuesday—after the Florida Supreme Court dismissed his claims of organic brain damage and misleading jury instructions in the 1982 murder of Janet Renee White in Bay County.
