HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bay County reports a new case of vibrio vulnificus infection as 38-year-old Benjamin West was hospitalized at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay after contracting the bacteria while fishing near Port St Joe on Aug. 23—he underwent multiple leg surgeries following an initial misdiagnosis. The county now has three cases with two deaths while the state totals 23 infections and five fatalities from bacteria that thrives in warm brackish water. Panama City News Herald
