- ➤ FWC announced that the recreational and commercial stone crab harvest season will begin Oct. 15 and remain open through May 1 with closing on May 2 — recreational crabbers aged 16 or older must register online annually and follow size and trap rules to harvest safely. My Panhandle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bay County approved funding for a new fire station off Highway 388 in West Bay, with most costs covered by the St. Joe Company and a portion by county impact fees. Construction will begin once permits are approved and is expected to finish within a year — the station will provide cross-trained fire rescue and EMS services for the growing community. WJHG
- ➤ Governor Ron DeSantis met with Bay County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday morning — he talked about the law enforcement bonus program that awarded $63 million and sent out over 9,400 checks. He said 2,000 recruits came from outside the state and 734 more bonus checks will be mailed soon. WJHG
