- ➤ Bay County will partner with Panama City Beach to host Free Pier Day for Locals on Saturday, October 18, where residents can fish plus watch the sunset at both the Russell Fields City Pier at 16101 Front Beach Road and the M.B. Miller County Pier at 12213 Front Beach Road. County Parks and Recreation staff will help residents register for free parking passes. My Panhandle
- ➤ On Oct. 13, Panama City held a ceremony — a candlelight vigil and displays of camaraderie marked the event — to honor those lost in the Global War on Terror, and community members gathered to remember the sacrifice of veterans. The tribute provided a solemn reminder of past service and loss. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ Local organizers will hold a 'No Kings' protest in Panama City on Oct. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hathaway Bridge—participants should use nearby parking and follow safety rules as they join the march against policies linked to ICE raids and tariffs. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ At a Tuesday morning Commission meeting, Commissioner Robbie Hughes presented Kelso Sauers with a commemorative City coin (after he used a fire extinguisher to control smoke at Ferrucci Ristorante on Sunday) and the restaurant owners also thanked him with a special gift. WJHG
- ➤ The Salvation Army Panama City Corps announced on Tuesday that in-person Angel Tree signups were cancelled and the application process moved online. - ➤ Gulf Coast State College will host its annual Fall Festival on Oct. 24 at the Student Union East Parking Lot — a free event with food, games, prizes and a popular trunk-or-treat featuring decorated cars with sweet surprises. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ Panama City swim school owner Brittany Moog of Bitty Bubbles was elected to a two-year term on the USSSA Board and won the Rising Star award at the fall conference. - ➤ Larry Yazzie, a two-time world champion native dancer, will perform at FSU Panama City on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holley Academic Center’s St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall—he founded Native Pride Productions to honor his heritage and share his stories. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ Florida State University Panama City is hosting former ABC News president Kim Godwin for a free lunch-and-learn today from noon to 1:30 in the Holley Academic Center’s St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall at 4750 Collegiate Drive—Godwin was the first woman and person of color to lead ABC News, and she will be interviewed by Brian Baber in the session. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Florida Department of Health in Bay County issued a water quality advisory at Carl Gray Park (SP 9) on Collegiate Drive after tests on October 13 showed that Enterococcus bacteria levels exceeded state guidelines. The advisory will remain until the bacteria levels drop to safe conditions. WJHG

- ➤ By The Sea Resorts secured the stalking horse bid at Gulf World Marine Park for over $4.5 million in cash and will add nearly seven acres of property once it completes the court-approved closing process — the winning bid set the baseline for other offers. My Panhandle

- ➤ Publix Sports Park is getting renovations as fields 10 through 12 are fitted with AstroTurf plus the park is adding three new diamond fields to host youth and college tournaments.
