- ➤ The Lynn Haven Heritage Society will host its first annual Christmas Tree Celebration on December 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Lynn Haven where businesses on Florida Avenue will display themed trees and the public will vote at Roberts Hall to help raise funds for refurbishing the old McMullin Library. - ➤ Today in Panama City, police are investigating a suspicious letter sent to a local store that may be a hate crime — paramedics took one person to a hospital, while a historic B-29 and a P-51 are coming to display at the local airport this weekend. In addition, the volunteer fire chief was terminated after planning to retire, two dolphins from a marine park were sold amid bankruptcy, and officials completed the first phase of a larger road project by connecting Highway 98 to Star Avenue. - ➤ Two iconic WWII warbirds, the B-29 Super-Fortress Doc and the P-51 Mustang Gunfighter, are on display at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport from Thursday through Sunday. - ➤ The Visual and Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College is showcasing 'Museum Views II' featuring work by renowned Florida artist Richard Heipp at the Amelia Center Gallery Room 112. - ➤ Students at the Collegiate School at FSU Panama City will soon receive free hot meals from a $25,000 donation made by Culpepper Construction on Monday. The funding covers costs that could reach $40 per week and supports a daily meal delivery from a local provider since the school lacks an on-site kitchen. My Panhandle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Construction on a new DuPont Bridge began in May, with two parallel bridges planned to provide 75 feet of clearance at high tide and include four travel lanes—along with emergency shoulders and a multiuse path for pedestrians and cyclists. Parker officials say the project will bring new business, and the Florida Department of Transportation is funding the $350 million project expected to finish by 2030. WJHG
- ➤ Bay County fire stations in rural areas are temporarily closed due to staffing shortages, which delays emergency services, as county manager Robert Majka said staffing is evaluated daily — the county commission approved 20 new firefighter and EMS positions with 12 hires already set to finish training by December and full staffing expected by June 2026.
