- ➤ The Krewe of Saint Andrews will host its first annual Krewe Olympics on November 7 at 810 Entertainment+ where it will hold friendly competitions with the Krewe of Dominique Vaux in events like bowling, darts, billiards and axe throwing. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County and AT&T are hosting a digital safety workshop for high school juniors and seniors on Saturday at FSU Panama City. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offers a t-shirt, lunch, and a $50 stipend after a digital safety project—with 175 limited spots—designed to spread online safety tips. My Panhandle
- ➤ Bay District Schools is now offering a free online driver’s ed course—required by a new Florida law—for teens ages 14 to 17 to earn their learner’s permit. The two-week course covers traffic laws, road signs, and defensive driving skills to help reduce teen crashes. WJHG
- ➤ Florida Education Association President Andrew Spar said public schools have low funding and teacher pay, which is causing a shortage of teachers. He is meeting with school leaders and lawmakers to reduce extra laws and push for fair pay — steps that could help improve education. My Panhandle
- ➤ Northwest Florida State College earned the Florida Collegiate Purple Star Campus designation—showing its support for active duty military personnel, veterans, and their families during their studies. The honor was granted after Governor Ron DeSantis signed it into law in June 2023. My Panhandle
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ FSU Health officials told the county commission on Tuesday morning that the new teaching hospital project, which began in November 2024, is moving quickly and will be finished in 2027. County commissioners said the teaching hospital will train doctors and serve Bay County. My Panhandle
- ➤ During the week of Oct. 13 to Oct. 19, 2025, state inspectors found health rule problems at six Bay County restaurants, including American Charlie LLC, Hooters of PCB, Marcos Pizza, Popeye's Chicken, Under the Boardwalk Bar & Grill, and Yaad A Spice, with issues like unsafe food temperatures and expired licenses. Follow-up inspections are required to fix these problems & ensure the restaurants meet state safety standards. Panama City News Herald

- ➤ The Ironman triathlon will take over parts of Front Beach Road by Pier Park on November 1st—swimming and running segments will challenge participants as organizers prepare for the upcoming event. WJHG
- ➤ Hunters are preparing for deer season in Zone D that will open on October 25th as local stores restock supplies—demand is rising ahead of the season. C&G Sporting Goods co-owner Josh Petty said many hunters view the season as a chance to enjoy the outdoors and protect deer populations for future generations. WJHG
