- ➤ The 5th annual Watersound 5K and 10K will take place on Saturday, October 25, starting at 8:00 a.m. from the Watersound Town Center Pavilion and is set to unite locals for a community run; a block party will follow on Sunday, October 26 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. WJHG
- ➤ The Bay County Chamber of Commerce held its annual First Responders Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday to honor local first responders for their service, with Florida Lieutenant Governor (Jay Collins) speaking on the importance of their work. Awards were given to Firefighter Jordan Sylvester, Lifeguard Harley Hill, EMS Petty Officer Justin S. Patin and Law Enforcement Deputy Jamie Jackson, and a special public service award went to Ruth Corley. WJHG
- ➤ ZooWorld will host its annual ZooBoo event this weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday—kids will walk a trick or treat trail with candy bars from 25 local vendors, enjoy carnival games and photo ops with spooky animals, and proceeds will support a new walk-through sloth exhibit. - ➤ Historic St. Andrews Waterfront Partnership announced the Farm to Town Initiative will start on Saturday in Panama City. The program, created with a USDA grant + support from the City of Panama City and the Community Redevelopment Agency, will use a refrigerated truck to bring local produce and goods to The Market at St. Andrews and Glenwood Marketplace to help small and medium farms. - ➤ Triumph Gulf Coast approved millions for projects that will boost the region's economy as it prepares to meet with the Bay County Board to finalize a deal for a new marine manufacturing company called Project Kilowatt. Grants were also approved to launch an aviation training program at Apalachicola Regional Airport and a digital tech plan for local schools plus help create jobs and industry certifications. WJHG

- ➤ Lake Merial Inc. closed the private street next to Bozeman Elementary for safety as new construction began in the Lake Merial neighborhood—forcing parents to find less safe parking along highway 77. The school district announced a temporary plan that leaves the north side open until January 3rd and will have juniors park in a new softball field when it is completed. My Panhandle

- ➤ At Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, TSA officers are working without pay due to the ongoing government shutdown—airport operations remain stable with air traffic controllers unaffected—and back pay is expected when the shutdown ends. My Panhandle

- ➤ Nearly 50 breast cancer survivors were honored at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay’s Profiles in Pink Survivors Luncheon on Oct. 23, celebrating their strength in the fight against breast cancer — a milestone that highlights local resilience. - ➤ Bay High School and Mosley High School were eliminated in the FHSAA regional quarterfinals as Yulee beat Bay in four sets and Middleburg swept Mosley, ending their seasons at 15 to 10 and 14 to 13 respectively.
