COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered for the American Muscle Car Show — entry cost one Christmas toy for Project 25 in Panama City. Organizers said that the toy drive helped local children enjoy Christmas and will support families in future years.  WJHG
  • Bay County has two full-sized fishing piers in Panama City Beach that were rebuilt after Hurricane Dennis in 2005. Panama City Beach manages the Russell-Fields Pier while Bay County oversees the M.B. Miller Pier — both now provide public access to fishing and help ease local congestion.  Panama City News Herald
  • Save the Closet held its 64th free clothing event—fully stocked with coats, jeans, shoes and baby items—to help families amid a federal shutdown and recent benefit cuts. Volunteers said the event brought relief as people took unlimited bags of donated clothes.  My Panhandle

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials reported that tornadoes on Oct. 27 caused 80 properties in Mexico Beach to show visible damage, with major impacts at the Summerhouse condo complex and El Governor Beach Resort—one or two homes may need full rebuilds while updated building codes helped newer homes resist damage. Local crews worked on replacing fences and cleaning parks as community agencies provided support and some businesses expect to reopen soon.  Panama City News Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hundreds of families in Panama City and Niceville joined a walk at FSU Panama City to support National Alzheimer’s and Family Caregivers’ awareness months, raising over $75,000 for care and research. The event came after new FDA-approved treatments gave people hope in slowing the disease — funding will help those facing the illness.  My Panhandle

  • Two residents of Sea Grass Village Independent Living, aged 94 and 89, went tandem skydiving after their wish was granted through the facility’s Make-A-Wish program—proving that age does not limit adventure.  WJHG
