- ➤ AJ’s will host holiday events this week—today there is a Santa and S’mores event with live music by Dion Jones and Neon Tears and a holiday market from 3 to 7 p.m. A free Thanksgiving Feast will be held on November 27 at AJ’s on the Bayou from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at AJ’s Grayton Beach from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with donations welcomed for the Kids on Coast Foundation. - ➤ Three rescued dolphins—Sandy, Capri, and Soleil—have been moved to a new permanent home in the Keys, and Harrison Avenue reopened on Saturday at 7 a.m. while a Lynn Haven recall petition for Mayor Jesse Nelson was certified, Panama City Beach police delivered Thanksgiving meals, and more sleep apnea patients are turning to the Inspire device for treatment. - ➤ AAA is offering its Tow to Go program this Thanksgiving weekend to give free rides and towing to a safe spot within 10 miles from 6 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1 (open to members and non-members) for drivers who are too impaired to drive safely. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ Record numbers of Americans and Floridians are expected to travel this Thanksgiving season — with 81.8 million travelers and over 4.6 million Floridians driving at least 40 miles, according to AAA. Bay County’s holiday guide lists events such as parades, concerts and boat parades — with festivities planned from November 29 through December 31 in Panama City and nearby areas. - ➤ The City of Springfield reported a water main break on Altha Avenue that is causing low water pressure north of 15th Street—repair crews are working on the fix and no boil water notice is in effect. WJHG

- ➤ Major’s Smokehouse sustained severe damage to its building and food truck when Hurricane Michael hit in 2018—its owner has shared a story of resilience while working to rebuild the business. WJHG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials cut the ribbon on Nov. 24 to complete the downtown Harrison Avenue makeover after several years of work — ending a long construction phase on the streetscape. Panama City News Herald
- ➤ Engineer Brandon Connors of the Panama City Fire Department graduated from the State Honor Guard Academy on November 20 and led his squad as Color Guard during a downtown Ocala parade that evening. On November 21, the department honored nine fallen firefighters at a memorial ceremony held at the Florida State Fire College. City of Panama City
- ➤ The City of Panama City is set to hold a soft opening on December 15 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the nearly finished MLK Jr. Recreation Center, where guests will tour the facility and hear remarks from City officials (including Manager Javien Elliott). - ➤ Local fire officials warned residents to fry turkeys at least 10 feet from homes and on a level surface—using materials like cardboard or plywood—to prevent oil spillovers and fires. They advised that turkeys must be fully thawed on Tuesday or early Wednesday and urged keeping a fire extinguisher, protective gear, and children and pets away when frying for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.
