A new full-sized basketball court is being built at Bayou George Athletic Complex to replace an outdated one and give local residents a better space for sports.

The park will also get a new playground, shaded pavilion, and parking lot upgrades and is expected to be finished by the end of August + these improvements offer a safer spot for community play.

41-year-old Branden Gywayne Givens was sentenced to 30 years in prison after Bay County deputies discovered 82 grams of fentanyl and over 1,000 grams of methamphetamine during a vehicle stop last year, with his fingerprints on the evidence—though his attorney disputed when they were placed.

The City of Panama City has launched its annual 'Back to School' supply drive that runs from July 14 to August 6—community members and City Hall staff can drop off needed supplies at the rotunda from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays to support Bay District School students and teachers.
