Sunday's heavy rain flooded Panama City roads, and Monday brings a sunny break

5-8 inchesof rain that fell on Panama City, per police

The Panama City Police Department gave that range. WJHG's headline says Bay County saw up to 8 inches.

If you woke up to water in the road Sunday, you weren't alone. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for Central Panama City that lasted until 10:15 a.m. WMBB reports roads near Panama City Mall, Callaway and Sam's Club were completely covered in water.

The warning ended at 10:15 a.m., but News13 saw flooding last later into the afternoon.

  • Report flooding: PCPD non-emergency line, 850-872-3112
  • Ask that it be relayed to the National Weather Service
  • Our advice: turn around, don't drown, and skip flooded roads

Today looks better. WJHG says Monday will be sunny, warming through the 70s to the 80s around midday. Heading east? Bring sunglasses. The forecast also says more rain is to come.

Help me understand why Panama City is becoming more and more of a forgotten city when it comes to restaurants and retail shopping.

“Pier Park is getting a few more new restaurants, i.e. Ruby Tuesdays and Sourdough & Company. This area seems to pride itself on putting more importance on tourists then citizens of this city. Hell, our mayor and the FDOT sing a different tune when it comes to the real story behind the lack of movement on the mall…”
